What We Learned From Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview

What We Learned From Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview

It’s the interview of the decade! The Duchess of Sussex in a sit-down interview with the Queen Of Talk Oprah Winfrey. There were revelations made, leaving everyone (including the Palace) a little shook. If you missed the interview, don’t worry — we got all the juicy details for you below!

Here are some of the things we learned from “that” interview:

Harry and Meghan felt trapped.

The couple shared that they felt trapped in the family because of all the constraints and restrictions that came with the position. Harry specifically said he felt that he, along with his brother and father are trapped by the system and if it wasn’t for Meghan, he wouldn’t have left the family and would still be in the same situation.

Meghan had suicidal thoughts.

It was pretty obvious that it hasn’t been easy for Meghan but no one really knew the extent of her hardships. For the first time, Meghan got candid about her mental health. She revealed that it got so bad that she actually had suicidal thoughts. What’s even worse is, she tried to ask for help but was denied help because it wouldn’t be good for the institution.

The family was concerned about how dark Archie’s skin would be.

This is definitely the biggest revelation in the interview. It was so surprising that even Oprah’s jaw dropped. According to Meghan, while she was still pregnant, there were some concerns and conversations about how dark Archie’s skin was going to be.

“That was relayed to me from Harry. Those were conversations that family had with him," she shared.

When Oprah tried to push on who was having “THAT” conversation, Meghan did not talk further.

When Harry was asked about it, his answer was: “That conversation, I am never going to share. At the time, it was awkward, I was a bit shocked.”

Kate made Meghan cry.

The British media and tabloid reported in the past that Meghan made her sister-in-law Kate cry during Meghan’s wedding preparations. Apparently, it was the other way around. In the interview, Meghan revealed that “the reverse” happened. It was actually Kate who made her cry! Meghan also shared that Kate apologized and she has already forgiven her.

Harry still loves his family very much.

While the couple may have stepped away from their official roles, they are still in contact with the family and Harry still loves them very much. The couple shared that they have spoken with the Queen several times and have a good relationship with her. However, his father Prince Charles, has stopped taking his calls. Harry also admits that his relationship with his brother is strained.

“I love William to bits, he's my brother, we've been through hell together ... but we're on different paths.” He also added that “time heals all things -- hopefully.”

They are having a girl!

Finally, some good news — it’s gonna be a girl for baby number two! The couple announced back in February that they were expecting another baby and now they have shared that they are having a girl.

“To have any child, any one or any two, would have been amazing. But to have a boy and then a girl, what more could you ask for?”, Harry said in the interview.

The prince also shared that they have been enjoying spending time in their California home with Archie during quarantine. Despite the many challenges they have faced in the past years, they are currently happy and thriving. Meghan wrapped up the interview perfectly and described their lives as “greater than any fairytale you've ever read.”
