Tips to Help You Boss Up in Life

Taking control of your life can seem such a daunting task but we promise you it is not impossible to do. With the right mindset and a little bit of courage, you really can achieve that dream life!

We know that 2020 has been tough. So many unexpected challenges popped up out of nowhere. If you made it through healthy and sane – congratulations, you are blessed. With enforced lockdowns and drastic lifestyle changes, not many people found it easy to navigate the new normal.

Don’t worry, your journey is not over yet! You can always get back up even after a rough year. Just like Lizzo said, you can “boss up and change your life”.

Don’t know where to start? Here are some tips to help you out:

Let the bad stuff go

You can’t move on in life if you’re still holding on to the traumas from your past. Still trying to hook up with an ex? Still sulking about an offensive comment? Stop ruminating and let that go! While your feelings and pain are definitely valid, you can’t spend all your energy on things that no longer serve you. Focus on what lies ahead!

Change your mindset

If you want to upgrade your life, you have to upgrade your mindset. It is very important to be in the right space of mind to achieve your goals. You can do this by reading up on self-development books and regularly reminding yourself that you are a boss. You can achieve anything that you have the courage to dream up.

Show up!

Writing down your goals and dreaming of winning is not enough. Even if you talk up a storm about getting that coin, nothing is going to happen if you don’t SHOW UP. This is challenging, especially during the first times, when you might still be feeling some self-doubt. But when you decide to show up and actually face whatever it is that you need to face, you are taking the step towards your dream.

Hustle but don’t overwork yourself

This might sound contrasting but there is that perfect balance of work-and-rest that is actual productivity. Don’t believe society’s obsession about “the grind”. It is not healthy for your body or your mind to always be on work mode. It is important to create healthy boundaries that will allow you to say no when you need to so you won’t get stretched too thin.

Practice regular self-care

How do you get that healthy work-life balance? Practice regular self-care. Self-care is more than just resting, although sleep is an important part of it. Self-care is prioritizing your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. This is different for everyone because people have different needs. It is essential to do some reflection, so you can figure out what self-care routines will benefit for you. Aromatherapy, massages, meditation, exercise and skincare are just some of the activities that can help boost your mood. The point is to prioritize yourself and do things that you enjoy. They don’t have to be major, even simple activities are great as long as they are meaningful to you.

Be patient

So, you have plotted out your course and are working hard to achieve your goals but you are still not getting there. Don’t rush it! Genuine growth can take a long time. Very few people become successful overnight. You have to be patient and trust your own journey. You will get there when you need to.

Leave room for failure

Can we normalize failing? Because it is perfectly fine! It is normal to fail from time to time. What matters is how you get back up. Even the most successful people have failed plenty of times before they get that big win. So, if you don't achieve that goal you were dreaming of, don’t lose hope. Try again. Or maybe you can take it as a sign that the universe is redirecting you to something even better!
